PROJECT SCOPE

26 Letters, 10 Numerals

Designing Within a Constraint

I began with a single geometric grid and a set of shapes that every character had to use. Each new letter tested those rules in a different way. The aim was to make the characters recognizable on their own while keeping them unmistakably part of the same family.

Overlapping circular guides forming the grid used to construct the characters.

The Complete System

The finished set brings together 26 letters and 10 numerals. Seen together, the characters reveal the shared geometry more clearly than any single letter can. Building the full set also exposed where the rules worked well and where legibility needed more attention.

Colour Exploration

With the forms established, I explored how colour could change their character without changing the underlying system. Different backgrounds and combinations gave individual designs their own energy while keeping the set cohesive. The project taught me how much range can come from committing to a small set of rules.
